Roderick GaerlanHigh Profile DJ/MC (Tri-Lingual)
Born in the Philippine Islands, Roderick Gaerlan (AKA "Raw Styles") was raised in San Jose, California. He discovered DJing at Sheppard Middle School (San Jose), when he started going to house parties, where his childhood friends DJ'ed. He enjoyed the fun and dynamic atmosphere. He continued to "tag along" to events and DJ battles all through high school, while throwing the best parties around.
After graduating from Independence High School '95, he joined his childhood buddies' DJ crew as the MC and performed at house parties, high schools/colleges, weddings and corporate events. He loved to be on the mic and hype up the crowd. His passion for good music and his outgoing personality led him to start R.A.W. Entertainment (a DJ/MC, Production & Event Company) and put together events all over San Francisco Bay Area. He had the pleasure of working with and learning from top and legendary Bay Area DJs. In 1999, Roderick sold his company to his business partner to pursue a career in dotcoms. Today, R.A.W. Entertainment is one of the Premiere DJ/MC and Events Companies in the San Francisco Bay Area.
After the big dotcom bust, Roderick went back to school in 2002 and graduated from Cal Berkeley in Mass Communications/Public Policy. On top of being the resident DJ for his fraternity's (Kappa Alpha Order) many legendary parties, Roderick was an ON AIR DJ at KALX 90.7 FM Berkeley, where he was also the News & Sports Reporter and Producer for the evening news.
In early 2008, Roderick joined forces with KC Campbell and the DJ/MC powerhouse VOX DJs to head the Sales & Marketing arm upon his move to Los Angeles. His current DJ residencies include the sexy Zinc Lounge (Shade Hotel) and Mucho Lounge in Manhattan Beach, and played at such clubs/venues as Vanguard (Hollywood), J Lounge (Downtown LA), Stone Rose/Simon LA (Beverly Hills), Andaz Hotel (W. Hollywood), and Palihouse (W. Hollywood), to name a few.
When Roderick is not in the office or DJing, he lives for the moment, which explains his love for skydiving, scuba, and riding his motorcycle. Roderick loves to travel and learn different cultures. He has been to 17 different countries but in his own words, is "only getting started!". Roderick speaks fluent Spanish and Tagalog, and loves to salsa. His other hobbies include photography, basketball, football, softball, volleyball and surfing. Height: 5'10" Videos/Audio
